Yes, if your laptop is already 7 years old, then clearly it’s obviously never going to be fast enough to perform certain tasks anymore. As far as I know, you need a more powerful laptop for online lessons. I work as a freelancer for more than 5 years, and recently I also switched from Windows to Apple, I had long doubts and decided what to buy, eventually decided that I want a macbook as it is much faster, which will give me more income and comfort during work, I chose at https://www.apple.com/mac/ macbook air 13 on the processor m1, yes it is not new, it came out in 2020, but nevertheless it is very fast and brings me one pleasure. So it’s still up to you to decide, but I would advise you to go for a macbook exclusively for your work
