I feel like every summer I go through the same cycle ship orders, cross my fingers, wait to see what comes back damaged, try to adjust something, repeat. It’s exhausting and expensive and honestly it makes me dread the hot months. I run a small operation in Ajman and I’ve never really had a clear plan for how to handle packaging when temperatures climb, just a bunch of trial and error that hasn’t gotten me anywhere consistent. I’ve been trying to figure out how to start ensuring reliable outcomes with better practices instead of just hoping for the best. I found an article that laid out some of the specific mistakes people make in hot climates and it was like someone finally handed me a roadmap. I realized I’ve been using the wrong tape, storing boxes in a hot warehouse, not thinking about how heat affects adhesives and box integrity, and basically setting myself up for failure every time. I’m making a list of changes this week—heat-resistant tape, better storage, proper sealing techniques—and I’m actually going to document what works so next summer I have a system instead of starting from scratch again. For those who’ve been doing this longer, do you have a checklist or routine you follow when summer hits? I want to build something repeatable so I’m not reinventing the wheel every year.
