Hey Nedrago community,
Playing Game Studio got me thinking about real-world decisions indie developers face — especially around whether to build everything in-house or bring in external help.
When I was working on a side project, I hit a wall trying to handle UI/UX, backend logic, and app store optimization all at once. At some point, I realized it made more sense to partner with a professional app development company for the technical heavy-lifting, while I focused on game design and monetization strategy. It was a game-changer (pun intended).
Some things I learned from that experience:
Don’t outsource your core creativity — keep the game concept, art direction, and story in-house
Do outsource heavy technical work — API integrations, performance optimization, cross-device testing
Vet the company’s mobile portfolio — a company that has shipped Android titles understands constraints like battery drain, memory limits, and store compliance
Agree on milestones, not hourly rates — keeps the project on track
Curious if anyone here building games in the Game Studio idle sim has thought about this in the context of the game’s mechanics. Would love to discuss!
