Path of Exile 2’s Fate of the Vaal league is in a wild spot right now, and if you are still grinding high tier maps the old way instead of looking at how people buy PoE 2 Items or abuse Holten, you are kinda missing the point of this moment in the league. The whole Vaal Temple system was clearly meant to be a late‑game payoff, but players have already blown past that and turned a tiny Act 6 interlude into a factory for temples and currency.

The Holten Waypoint Trick
If you have not seen the clips, the core of the method sits in the Holten interlude zone in Act 6. You rush a fresh character there, hit the waypoint, and right next to it you get a Vaal pack almost every time, as long as you are not more than ten levels over the area. You run ten seconds to the circle, delete the pack, grab your crystals, then faceplant something on purpose so the XP gain resets and you do not outlevel the zone. It looks dumb on paper, but after a few loops you realise you can put together a full temple in a couple of minutes instead of grinding six juiced T16 maps for a single scuffed layout.

Building The Snake Temple
The crystals are only half of the story though, and this is where a lot of people mess up. Instead of trying to build a neat square, you chain rooms in a long snake from the entrance all the way across the map. The goal is to stack Spymaster rooms for medallions so you can lock your layout, then cram in as many Garrisons as you can for effectiveness. Once you get used to it, hitting 1000 percent effectiveness on monster packs does not feel that crazy. When you finally open that temple and run the snake, the loot just explodes out of every pack — raw divines, exalts, and a shower of item level 84 bases. Fast builds like Lightning Arrow Deadeye shred everything, but even slower, tankier setups like RF Chieftain can farm this without too much stress.

Impact On The League Economy
All of this has pushed the league economy into a strange place. Players who lock into Holten early end up swimming in currency while everyone else is still slogging through normal mapping for scraps. Trade sites start to reflect it, too; you see high‑end bases and uniques listed for prices that would have been insane in any other league. The whole ladder fills up with characters that obviously spent more time resetting campaign zones than actually progressing maps, which feels kind of hilarious and kind of depressing at the same time.

Patch Incoming And Other Options
GGG will almost certainly smack this down once the team is back from the holidays, so this window is not going to stay open forever. If you do not have the time or patience to level extra alts and keep looping Holten, you can still keep up by leaning on trade and just buying what you need, same way some folks grab currency from sites like u4gm to keep their main build rolling while they experiment on the side. Right now the meta is shaped by this one weird exploit, and whether you jump in or sit it out, it is one of those short, chaotic moments that make a PoE league feel alive.
