I’m stuck in a really frustrating situation and need some outside perspective. A company called Fairway Capital Recovery keeps calling me about a debt. The problem is, I don’t recognize the debt they’re describing at all.

I’ve asked them repeatedly to send me information in writing so I can verify it, but they just keep calling. The calls are becoming more frequent and feel really pushy. They’ve called me at work after I asked them not to, which was embarrassing.

This whole thing feels wrong. I was looking for information on how to handle this and found a guide that explains when collection tactics cross the line into illegal harassment. Reading it confirmed a lot of my suspicions.

Has anyone been through something similar with this company or another? How did you get them to actually prove the debt or make the calls stop? I’m not sure what my next move should be.

(Link to the resource I mentioned: A guide to understanding and stopping illegal debt collection harassment)
